Freedom and Happiness

Updated: Oct 4, 2019

In my favorite movie, Braveheart, William Wallace says “Every man dies. Not every man really lives.” This makes me think of freedom, and happiness. Throughout history, we have fought for our freedom. And yet, with all the freedoms we have, many of us are still trapped by our own thoughts and beliefs, preventing us from feeling free and happy.

As I was pondering this over a great cup of java, looking out over the lake, a few questions came to mind. These questions might help reveal a limiting belief you are harboring, and set it free.

  • What limiting thoughts and beliefs do you hold? Often we’re not even aware of what we are thinking and how it is driving our actions.

  • Which thoughts would it be most beneficial to change?

  • Can you visual just letting those thoughts go? Just let them drift away – set them free.

  • How might you change it, or replace it? What positive thought would serve you better?

  • What would your life be like if you really believed this new thought?

  • Can you believe that all you have to do is switch it? That’s it. Nothing more.

While you’re out having fun this Fourth of July weekend, to honor our forefathers who fought for our freedom, perhaps take a moment to reflect on how you can “really live” – just by changing your own thoughts and beliefs.

Have fun, be safe! Cheers!
