The Sliding Doors of Life

Updated: Oct 4, 2019

Happy Wednesday!

Have you seen the movie "Sliding Doors?" Starring Gwyneth Paltrow, the story alternates between two parallel worlds, based on whether or not Helen (Paltrow) catches a train, causing dramatically different outcomes in her life. It makes me think about our choices in life, and how positive and negative thinking is like sliding doors.

If you are in a positive frame of mind, your choice and what you attract will be completely different than if you are in a negative frame of mind. Both positive and negative energy can be powerful; they just have completely different outcomes. Just like in Sliding Doors, catching the train or not, it's hard to trace our path from that moment of positive or negative thinking, and clearly see the outcome. I can think back to specific times in my life when I was not as open and positive and how others reacted, and I can imagine how the scenario would have played out differently had I been positive. And I compare it to times when I've been positive and I've seen what it attracts. The thing that's made the biggest difference is not only intellectually believing in positive thinking, but actually feeling it, opening my heart and expressing it.

Today you have an opportunity to test this for yourself. Take a moment and think about being open and positive. Feel it in your heart. Whether you're at work, at home, or out and about, see how differently you respond and react to people and situations when you are positive. Be mindful of the affect it has - without expecting anything positive in return. Just watch it. I've found the more I practice, the more profound an impact it makes. Our hearts are muscles, they need to be exercised. I think you'll see that your children and spouse will start to behave differently, your employees will be more receptive and engaged, and you'll feel less stressed and more energized.
